Mondo Guerra and Art Aids Art team up to help fight South African HIV/AIDS crisis

Since the powerful disclosure of his HIV-positive status on “Project Runway,” fashion designer Mondo Guerra has become a strong advocate for HIV/AIDS education.

Mondo has traveled across the U.S. for his work with I Design, a national HIV/AIDS education campaign with Merck.  Now, he hopes to help make a difference in South Africa by teaming up with Art Aids Art.

Art Aids Art is a nonprofit organization that helps educate South Africa about the HIV/AIDS crisis.  They accomplish this work in part by purchasing artwork at Fair Trade prices, stimulating economic opportunities for area artists.

To commemorate World AIDS Day 2012, Art Aids Art has produced a limited-edition 2"x2" pin of Mondo’s Pozitivity design—the challenge-winning print he created for “Project Runway.”  These pins were created by artists in South Africa and are available for purchase on MondoGuerra.com.

“Art has always helped me overcome difficulties in my life,” Mondo said.  “I’m proud to support Art Aids Art to empower people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS through their art.”

The special Pozitivity pins are $5 each with very limited quantities at www.mondoguerra.com/shop.  Visit www.artaidsart.org  for more information on the organization.
