February 19, 2012—Denver, CO—Hello Project Runway Friends! Welcome back for another segment of All Stars Rewind! For those of you in attendance last Thursday, here’s your chance to re-live last week’s fun and for those of you who couldn’t join us, read on! The designer’s challenge for Episode 7 was to create a costume for a very rich character in the Broadway musical, Godspell! Break a leg!
Although the musical’s character is a very rich woman who hoards her wealth, the viewers at the Beauty Bar Denver for Mondo’s All Star Thursdays were invited to share their wealth during an auction organized to raise money for Denver Colorado Aids Project. The party started a little earlier this week in order to allow the crowd to begin placing bids during a silent auction, which included an amazing array of generously donated items such as sporting events tickets, L’Oreal beauty baskets and VIP tickets to the upcoming 303 Magazine’s Denver Fashion Weekend.
In addition to the excitement of the auction, the viewers were treated to a special appearance by the very popular Peach Carr. Additionally, the beautiful and talented Nina Montaldo kicked off the evening with a Broadway worthy song & dance performance and then the episode challenge began.
During the viewing, the crowd enjoyed treats provided by our gracious sponsors, popchips and vitaminwater. Although the designers produced some eye-catching outfits, none were better than the rich and extravagant winning design by our very own Mondo! The crowd showed their love for both Mondo and his outfit! Way to go, Mondo!!
Once the episode ended, Tim Schuetz from DCAP thanked Mondo and the crowd for their generosity and participation in the auction. He talked about how happy they were to have been able to help Mondo during his time of need as well as how much the aid that the public provides enables their organization to provide assistance to many other individuals.
The bidding then began for the remaining auction items that included an Isaac Mizrahi Pave Rock bracelet as well as several original designs from Mondo, Peach Carr, Jerell Scott and Bert Keeter. Another popular item was the Tiffany tote and towel set. We were honored to have local auctioneer, Shelly St. John of The Auction Divas facilitate the bidding. The crowd was very generous throughout the evening; however, in my opinion, the auction highlight was when Mondo offered to donate $2,500 if the crowd matched that amount and in less than 5 minutes, the crowd not only matched but surpassed that challenge!
The evening ended with a photo booth, courtesy of Jeff Ball Photography, which allowed the guests to take a pic with Peach and Mondo and a great time, was had by all!
Team Mondo is conducting an online auction which will run through February 25, so if you’d like to place a bid and help support the Denver Colorado Aids Project, bid here: http://bit.ly/wDP6Fl
